Comply with the McKinney- Vento Homeless Education Assistant Act and Title I, Part A Foster Care Provision

Human Services Degree preferred. Minimum of Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution; Master's degree preferred.

Proficiency in oral and written English and Spanish preferred

Ability to prepare, write and manage grants

Knowledge of the McKinney- Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act

Basic knowledge of district practices, processes, policies, community resources and counseling practices with historically marginalized and undeserved

Ability to effectively use local resources for LPS families especially homeless families and unaccompanied youth

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability to work under pressure: highly adaptable and flexible

Experience working to support families experiencing housing instability

Strong organizational/administrative skills and ability to work independently

Operating knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point

Demonstrated ability to advocate and collaborate on behalf of families experiencing homelessness

Ability to develop and facilitate staff/student/parent/community presentations

Under the Department of Social Emotional Learning, the McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison and DCF Foster Care Point of Contact assumes a broad range of functions within these core responsibilities:

• Collaborates with school based Homeless Liaison to ensure access to LPS services and programs for families experiencing homelessness and students currently in the care and custody of DCF
• Assist Welcome Center staff to document families identified as homeless as required by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
• Identify and refer families who do not have health insurance.
• Work with shelter staff and assist them when applicable
• Develop and oversee staff development and other programs required by grant funding such as: staff stipends, summer programs, afterschool programs, and meetings with community agencies
• Attend required meetings by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education regarding homeless students
• Prepare annual McKinney-Vento Grant renewal
• Compile and submit data required by DESE on homeless and foster care students
• Collaborate with state coordinators, community, and school personnel to provide educational and other services to homeless and students in foster care
• Ensure the rights of homeless students per McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act and build awareness in schools and community
• Attend Lynn Continuum of Care meetings per M.O.U. and as required by grant
• Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director/Assistant Director of Social-Emotional Learning

Terms of Employment: 12-month position

Days: Monday Thursday 7:45am-3:45pm; Friday 7:45am-2:45pm

School Vacation and Summer Hours - Monday-Thursday 7:45am-2:45pm; Friday 7:45am-12:45pm

Salary: $79,804
