Information Technology Specialist II - Telework Hybrid

Job Description and Duties

This position is located at the DMV Headquarters in Sacramento.

Under direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist (ITS) II will serve as the technical lead in various platform on-prem and cloud AWS and will perform duties related to Software Engineering, System Engineering, Information Security Engineering, Security Risk Management, and Client Services, including, but not limited to: Application Support, Software Administration, System Administration, Security Risk Management, and System Integration. The ITS II performs a wide variety of tasks requiring innovative problem solving within a wide range of technologies in support of the Department's critical 24x7 infrastructure and be able to build and support when required during business and off business hours.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

The incumbent must possess the requisite knowledge to plan, design, develop, implement, test, evaluate, and administer the largest and most complex information technology projects, either as integral solutions for the organization's overall business enterprise, or as multi-departmental solutions for larger State business needs and objects. The incumbent will contribute the highest levels of technical knowledge and business expertise in hardware, software, and coding technologies. Incumbent should possess the knowledge in UNIX, LINUX operating system, JAVA programming language, and various scripting languages. AWS cloud skills in EC2, EKS, LAMBDA, CloudWatch etc., is required. Ingestion of the core monitoring artifacts to Splunk or datadog is desired. Comply with security policies and procedures established by the data owners and the Information Security Officer. Implement the technical means to preserve the integrity and security of the department's information assets and manage the risks associated with those assets. Advise the data owners and the Information Security Officer of control vulnerabilities and recommendations for alternatives that enhance data security and integrity for existing and developing systems. Work independently as a valued team member. Experience with delivery services with a focus on providing superior customer service. Ability to be flexible, work under pressure, and accommodate changing priorities and assignments.
