Legal Assistant Paralegal

We are seeking a sharp full-time Legal Assistant who can help manage our office and perform paralegal duties. This is an entry-level or mid-level paralegal and office manager job and we want a team player who can contribute for our clients' benefit. Successful candidates must possess excellent people skills; we are willing to train the right candidate. Also required: excellent organizational and time management skills, knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn legal software for data input duties and be adept at everything Internet from forms to social media. Adams Law, LLC is a small firm that handles complex litigation often involving overlaps between and among our broad practice areas (bankruptcy, business disputes, contracts, real and personal property disputes, estate planning and probate court settlements, personal injury/insurance law). We need someone who knows how to assist a trial attorney for when we go to trial, or who is willing to learn. We need someone who can help us liaise with co-counsel on litigation with, e.g. tax lawyers, mineral rights and water rights lawyers, real property trial lawyers, and with other business partners such as real estate agents, whether local in Denver or overseas. See Pay is about $40,000 to $60,000 for full-time work, based upon hourly pay of between $18 and $30 commensurate with experience. While hours are regular business hours (8 to noon; 1-5) and this is a full-time job, our work hours are truly flexible for school, family and other requirements. Responsibilities: Client intake and management via telephone and email; paper and electronic filing and organization including performing copying, scanning and tasks such as building trial notebooks; billing work including assisting with creating and distributing client invoices; assisting with directing and managing the work of law clerks who are studying at the University of Colorado and University of Denver Law Schools and we've had law clerks from France and Azerbaijan; filing documents with the various courts where we practice; assistance with management of clients; liaison with co-counsel and liaison with other business partners such as real estate agents; some marketing work with attorneys and staff at networking events. Qualifications: People skills and verbal communications skills are the most important. Excellent written communications skills. Will train but great if you have computer skills including Microsoft Office editing and MS Outlook emailing skills. Willingness to learn and to work with legal filing systems for state, federal and bankruptcy courts, and to learn other legal software.
