Business Systems Analyst I - Information Technlogy

Job Overview The Pima County Information Technology Department (ITD) is seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst I (BSA‑I). The role involves engaging with subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand technical and process issues, documenting requirements, and communicating changes to technical teams and vendors. The position is located in office in Tucson, AZ and requires a valid Arizona Class D driver license at time of appointment. Essential Functions Engage with Pima County department or elected official SMEs to understand business operations. Research and document hardware, software, and tools that support business operations. Identify and document opportunities for operational improvement through technology changes. Communicate proposed technology changes to technical teams and vendors using requirements documents, work items, visual representations, and presentations. Coordinate requirements definition and business case development with department SMEs. Provide status updates to leadership in oral and written form. Apply project management techniques (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) to ensure efficient delivery of technical solutions. Negotiate viable solutions to technical, process, and priority conflicts. Serve as a team member delivering technical solutions on larger projects across multiple departments. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent AND two years of experience in computer hardware or software support, business analysis, or data analysis. Relevant college or university education may be substituted. Preferred Qualifications Experience gathering, analyzing, or documenting business requirements. Experience identifying and resolving issues within business processes or systems. Experience communicating with both technical and non‑technical audiences. Experience with project management methodologies and principles. Licenses and Certificates Valid Arizona Class D driver license at time of application and appointment. 39‑month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review will be conducted to assess suitability for operating county vehicles. Physical/Sensory Requirements Repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movement. Ability to communicate clearly (verbal and written). Must remain in a stationary position 50% of the time; occasional office movement required. Working Conditions Constant operation of a computer and other office productivity equipment (e.g., calculator, copier, printer).
