Lecturer in First-Year Writing

Position Summary Western Colorado University invites applications for a non‑tenure‑track full‑time Lecturer in English – First‑Year Writing (FYW). The appointment is a one‑year position (potentially renewable) at an annualized salary of $50,000–$51,000, with a 24‑credit teaching load (ENG 102, ENG 103, co‑requisite sections, supporting General Education courses). The role requires in‑person, on‑campus instruction and service commitments. Responsibilities Teach First‑Year Writing courses ENG 102 and ENG 103 and any co‑requisite sections. Provide instructional support for additional English courses offered within the General Education program as needed. Participate in campus service, including recruitment, committee service, and other departmental service duties. Commit to effective and inclusive teaching practices, professional development, and service to the department. Qualifications MA, MFA, PhD, or Master’s degree with 18+ graduate hours in English, Writing Studies/Composition & Rhetoric, or comparable graduate courses. Excellent record of university‑level teaching experience and/or high school teaching experience. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in an instructional unit. Willingness to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population. Collegiality and professional flexibility are characteristic of the department. Salary & Benefits $50,000–$51,000 annualized salary depending on qualifications and experience.
