Role Description This role serves as Hyder’s leader for human resources, talent development, and organizational effectiveness, helping build exceptional leaders, strengthen our culture, and ensure the company has the people and capabilities needed to achieve its long-term strategic goals. Aligned with Hyder’s mission of Inspired People Creating Loyal Customers, this role plays a critical part in building a high-performing culture that attracts, develops, and retains top talent. The Director of Human Resources & Talent Development partners closely with the Executive Team and business leaders to design, implement, and continuously improve programs that enhance employee engagement, leadership development, structured training, performance management, career development, succession planning, and long-term organizational success in alignment with our culture. This role also leads Hyder’s recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding strategies while ensuring effective utilization of talent assessment tools, including PXT Select for candidate evaluation and Insights Discovery for employee, leadership, and team development. This role provides leadership to Hyder’s Human Resources Administrator and supports company leaders with employee relations matters, including investigations, performance counseling, and disciplinary actions. However, the primary focus of the position is talent development and organizational effectiveness. Success in this role will be measured by the organization’s ability to attract, develop, engage, and retain exceptional talent, rather than by the administration of traditional HR functions such as payroll, benefits administration, employment law compliance, or routine HR administration. Key Responsibilities Talent Strategy & Leadership Lead and continuously improve Hyder’s recruiting, employee development, retention, and training strategy aligned with business objectives Partner with Executive Leadership to identify organizational needs and implement scalable people solutions Serve as a trusted advisor and coach to leaders, enhancing leadership capability and effectiveness Spend scheduled time in the field on active project sites, observing teams in action to assess development needs, identify leadership gaps, and understand the day-to-day realities of field operations Partner with and support Hyder's HR Administrator, providing guidance and hands‑on assistance on HR matters that extend beyond routine administration, such as complex employee relations issues, performance concerns, policy interpretation, and sensitive personnel situations Talent Development, Training & Performance Management Lead and monitor all people development programs, including leadership development, structured training initiatives, career pathing, and employee growth programs Oversee and enhance the company’s performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback cycles, and development planning Design and facilitate leadership workshops, training sessions, and executive development programs Support leaders in delivering meaningful coaching, feedback, and performance improvement plans Integrate Insights Discovery behavioral assessments into employee development, leadership coaching, and team effectiveness initiatives Succession Planning & high‑potential Talent Identify, develop, and track high‑potential employees across the organization Lead succession planning efforts for key roles, ensuring strong internal pipelines Partner with leadership to create and execute individual development plans for emerging leaders Employee Engagement & Culture Drive initiatives that strengthen employee engagement and reinforce Hyder’s culture and core values Utilize Insights Discovery tools to improve team dynamics, communication, and collaboration across project teams and departments Analyze feedback from engagement surveys, exit interviews, and other data sources to identify trends and implement improvements Champion a positive, high-performance, and people‑first culture Recruiting, Interviewing & Onboarding Improve and lead recruiting strategies, ensuring alignment with company growth and talent needs Partner with hiring managers to elevate interviewing practices and candidate experience Oversee onboarding programs to ensure successful integration and early development of new hires Manage and ensure consistent use of PXT Select assessments in the hiring process to support data‑driven candidate evaluation and selection Develop long‑term talent pipelines for key operational positions Build relationships with universities, industry organizations, and referral sources Continuously improve Hyder’s employer brand and recruiting strategy Decision‑Making Authority & Scope Recommends company-wide leadership development strategy to the President Recommends the annual training and development budget to the President Advises Executive Leadership on succession planning decisions Has authority to recommend hiring assessment methodology and leadership development curriculum Salary Range: $140-160k DOE Benefits include medical/dental/supplemental insurance, STD/LTD insurance, 401k plan, profit sharing, PTO. #J-18808-Ljbffr Hyder Construction
