Technology Support Lead - IBM MQ Engineer - Houston

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• At least five years of experience, or equivalent expertise, troubleshooting, resolving, and maintaining IT services.
• Demonstrated experience delivering AI-driven solutions for managing a large IBM MQ estate, such as operationalizing log and metric correlation, anomaly detection, and forecasting to identify and resolve issues and accelerate incident triage and root cause analysis.
• Experience managing applications or infrastructure in large-scale technology environments, both on premises and in public cloud.
• Proficiency with observability and monitoring tools and techniques.
• Experience carrying out processes within the ITIL framework.
• Hands-on experience operating middleware in enterprise production environments, including IBM MQ administration and incident response in secure environments.
• Strong problem determination skills, a structured troubleshooting approach, and the ability to work under time pressure while maintaining operational discipline.
• Working knowledge of Unix and/or Windows system administration, including processes, filesystems, certificate stores, and networking fundamentals relevant to MQ connectivity.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to coordinate across distributed teams and manage customer expectations.
• Preferred: Working knowledge of one or more general-purpose programming languages, such as Python or Java, and/or automation scripting.
• Preferred: Practical experience with public cloud.

• Lead a workstream or project involving one or more infrastructure engineering technologies.
• Work with other platforms to design and implement changes that resolve issues and modernize our organization and technology processes.
• Develop creative solutions for design, development, and technical troubleshooting of moderately complex problems.
• Consider upstream and downstream data, systems, and technical implications, and advise on mitigation actions.
• Operate and support IBM MQ environments across development, testing, and production, maintaining service availability, stability, and compliance with internal standards.
• Support resilience objectives through disaster recovery planning, ongoing coordination, and testing and validation. Apply reliability engineering practices by defining and improving service health indicators, operational thresholds, and actionable alerts to reduce noise and improve detection and recovery times.
• Maintain operational runbooks, standards, and controls to support consistent execution across our geographically distributed operations model.
• Reduce manual effort through automation, including scripted remediation, self-service workflows, and repeatable change execution for activities such as certificate lifecycle management, configuration validation, and routine health checks.
• Contribute to blameless post-incident reviews, track corrective actions through completion, and verify their effectiveness through measurable improvements.
• Provide technical guidance and responsive support to application teams integrating with MQ, including advice on connection patterns, security constraints, and operational best practices.
