Wall Colmonoy is a fourth-generation, family-owned materials engineering and precision manufacturing group, founded in 1938 and headquartered in Madison Heights, Michigan. The company operates across four domains: metal powder alloys, precision investment castings, aerospace repair and coatings, and aerospace components manufacturing. It serves aerospace, defense, automotive, glass container, oil and gas, mining, energy, and other industrial markets, with operations in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and a joint venture in China.

The Role

Wall Colmonoy is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to partner with the President and executive team in growing the company over the coming decades. The CFO will lead financial strategy, treasury and lender relationships, planning and analysis, reporting, tax, compliance, and the systems that support the business.

This is a hands-on role in a lean organization. The CFO will do the work as well as lead it, and will serve as a genuine business partner to the leaders of each business unit.

The CFO is responsible for the company’s U.S. and Canadian operations and its China joint venture. The Accounting, IT, and Procurement departments report directly to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and business partnership

• Serve as a business partner on the executive team, contributing to strategy across sales, operations, and finance, and bringing an independent point of view to major decisions.
• Help business unit leaders understand and act on their own P&Ls: explain results, drive accountability to plan, and translate financial performance into operating decisions.
• Lead the financial side of acquisitions, including screening, valuation, due diligence, and integration, with the discipline to recommend walking away when the numbers do not hold.
• Report to ownership and support the company’s family governance structure.

Capital, treasury, and lenders

• Own lender relationships, debt covenant compliance, and lender reporting.
• Recommend capital structure, financing, and capital allocation strategies to support growth.
• Manage cash hands-on, including weekly cash forecasting, intercompany funding, and foreign exchange exposure.
• Oversee the capital budgeting and approval process across all sites, with rigorous review of payback and utilization assumptions.

Accounting, reporting, and controls

• Lead the monthly close and multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation across U.S., Canadian, and China joint venture entities.
• Own standard costing, inventory, work-in-process, and margin analysis by product and business unit in a make-to-order environment.
• Directly manage working capital, including collections, credit decisions, payables, and vendor terms.
• Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness, and coordinate with external auditors.
• Track and report key performance indicators and goals by business unit.

Tax, benefits, and compliance

• Oversee domestic and international tax, including cross-border structure, transfer pricing, and export incentive programs, working with outside advisors.
• Partner with HR on the financial oversight of the company’s self-funded benefit plans, including vendor governance and fiduciary responsibilities.

Systems, IT, and procurement

• Lead Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementations at additional operating sites, and optimize the system where it is already in use, including costing setup, reporting, and month-end processes.
• Lead the IT function and technology roadmap, including the practical application of AI to improve finance and business processes.
• Lead the Procurement function, driving cost reduction and supplier performance across sites.

People

• Build and develop the finance organization, including plant and site accountants, into a capable bench with clear succession.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership, including prior CFO experience or a senior finance role carrying full CFO scope: lender relationships, multi-entity consolidation, and reporting to ownership or a board.
• Manufacturing experience required, ideally in make-to-order industrial, metals, or aerospace environments, with deep command of standard costing, inventory, and work-in-process.
• Hands-on experience consolidating foreign subsidiaries across multiple currencies, including Canada and China.
• Demonstrated lender and covenant management.
• Experience in a privately held, mid-sized business; family-owned experience is a plus.
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience strongly preferred, including both implementation and optimization.
• Practical experience or strong interest in applying AI to finance and business operations.
• Proven ability to build and lead finance teams; experience leading IT and procurement functions is a plus.
• Ability to explain financial results clearly and practically to operators and non-financial leaders.
• Candor and sound judgment: delivers difficult news early and brings a point of view, not just the numbers.
• Thrives in a lean, flat organization where initiative and resourcefulness matter, and is willing to do the work personally.

Location and Travel

Based at headquarters in Madison Heights, Michigan, with regular travel to U.S. operating sites in New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Oklahoma, and periodic travel to Canada and China.
