Experienced Bookkeeper

Our client, a well-established residential home builder in Sanford, is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their growing team. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is ideal for a bookkeeping professional with experience in the construction or residential real estate industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of full-cycle bookkeeping, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities

• Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Process invoices, billing, payments, and customer/vendor accounts
• Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
• Maintain the general ledger and prepare journal entries
• Ensure accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
• Prepare financial reports and account summaries
• Support payroll processing and related documentation as needed
• Review financial records, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues promptly
• Work closely with the CFO to support the company's day-to-day accounting operations

Qualifications

• 3+ years of recent bookkeeping experience required
• Construction or residential real estate industry experience strongly preferred
• Proficiency with QuickBooks required
• Strong knowledge of:
• Accounts Payable (AP)
• Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Bank and credit card reconciliations
• General Ledger maintenance
• Journal entries
• Billing and invoicing
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

Compensation & Benefits

• $25.00–$29.00 per hour , based on experience
