Overview of the position:

Plans, provides and/or supervises the nursing care of patients in an efficient and caring manner. Coordinates care planning with other caregivers and with other areas, adheres to universal precautions, and is compliant with infection control policies. Works independently with minimal supervision.

Essential duties include providing compassionate, quality patient care in accordance with physician orders in a warm and friendly manner, taking and recording measurements or readings, assessing condition and providing treatment for care of patient, administering prescribed medications, providing leadership while working collaboratively with other caregivers on the unit, willingly floating between campuses, demonstrating knowledge, skills and ability related to patient care and normal procedures in the Emergency Department within own scope of practice as demonstrated in completion of annual competencies, and assisting with orientation process of new staff as assigned.

Qualifications include current Ohio RN License and ADN, one year experience in acute care setting, CPR certification within 30 days of employment, ability to read, write and explain or describe moderately complex information to other hospital staff, attention to detail, ability to communicate well in an oral and written manner, as well as the ability to observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others, ability to read, calculate and prepare medication, as well as the ability to observe and analyze any resulting reactions and to apply clinical knowledge, ability to collect data, interpret findings, set priorities and carry out established plan, demonstrates competence in age-specific patient care as necessary, PALS certification within 12 months after completion of orientation, TNCC certification within 12 months of hire date, ACLS certification within 12 months of hire date, BCRA certification during nursing orientation, and ENPC certification within 12 months after completion of orientation.

Working conditions/physical requirements include standing, walking, talking, hearing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and tasting or smelling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, lifting or moving up to 10 pounds, frequently lifting or moving up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds, and special vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
