Sous Chef

Italian Village Restaurants is hiring a dedicated Sous Chef for Sotto, a restaurant that is part of a 3-unit historic, family-owned and operated restaurant group.

As Sous Chef, you will oversee the daily operations of the Sotto back-of-house team, ensuring kitchen organization, consistency, and execution at the highest level. This role partners closely with front-of-house leadership, beverage, and events teams to deliver exceptional daily service and special event execution.

Ideal Candidate will be:

• A strong people leader
• Experienced in a diverse range of cuisines, including Italian/Italian-American cuisine
• Proficient with key systems (Microsoft 365, Toast POS, MarginEdge, Sling, Resy)
• Excellent communication skills
• Excited for a role with lots of responsibility and an opportunity to open a small/mid-sized restaurant

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leading and overseeing back-of-house kitchen operations at Sotto & Bar Sotto
• Coordinating with front-of-house, events, and beverage teams to ensure seamless service execution
• Supporting food preparation standards, quality control, and menu consistency
• Managing and maintaining accurate transfer logs
• Managing and updating order guides to ensure proper inventory and ordering practices
• Completing temperature logs accurately and consistently in accordance with food safety standards
• Maintaining organized and up-to-date station prep lists
• Ensuring consistency in product preparation, presentation, and execution
• Supporting proper menu execution and maintaining overall kitchen standards
• Assisting with ordering, inventory management, scheduling, and staffing
• Coaching and supporting kitchen team members to uphold expectations and operational excellence

Compensation

Salary Range: $65-70K (based on experience and qualifications).

In addition, you will be eligible to participate in our store-level quarterly bonus program, which is tied to both overall business performance, and individual performance.

• Employees become eligible after three (3) years of continuous employment and receive 5 days annually
• After ten (10) years of continuous employment, employees receive 10 days annually

Paid Leave - 5 days annually - may be used for personal time off, including illness, appointments, or other personal needs.

Sick Pay- 5 days annually- is designated for health-related absences, including personal illness, medical appointments, or caring for an immediate family member.

The company observes the following Paid holiday closures for exempt employees:

• Thanksgiving Day
• Christmas Day
• New Year’s Day
• Annual Company Closure (typically January 1–3)
