Position Overview Physician to serve as a member of the Division of Medical Oncology within the Department of Internal Medicine, focusing exclusively on outpatient services. The role includes directing and providing direct and indirect patient care services in outpatient settings, conducting ambulatory clinics, performing relevant oncology procedures, ordering diagnostic testing and ancillary services, responding to consultation requests, determining, prescribing, and implementing treatment plans, documenting services, educating patients, directing quality assessment and improvement activities, serving as a preceptor and providing bedside training to residents, fellows, medical students, nursing staff, and allied health professionals, ensuring continuing medical education requirements are met, and participating in department and university committees. This newly created position follows a Clinical Excellence Track with a 70/30 appointment split: roughly 3½ days in clinic and 1½ days dedicated to research and administrative activities. Responsibilities Direct and provide outpatient patient care, including ambulation clinic management. Interview, obtain and review medical histories of patients. Perform physical examinations and relevant oncology procedures. Order special procedures, diagnostic testing, and ancillary services. Respond to consultation requests and determine treatment plans. Prescribe and implement therapies, documenting all services in the medical record. Educate patients and promote wellness, prevention, and early detection. Lead quality assessment and improvement activities. Serve as a preceptor for residents, fellows, medical students, nursing staff, and allied health professionals. Ensure continuing medical education requirements are met. Participate in departmental, college, medical center, and university committees. Qualifications Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). Completion of an accredited Oncology/Hematology Fellowship. Board Certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible or certified in Medical Oncology. Ability to meet medical licensure requirements in Ohio.
