About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Duration: 16 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year of PCU experience License: Valid compact or state nursing license Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Must-Have: High acuity PCU patient experience Strong focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls Description: This position involves caring for patients in a high acuity progressive care environment. Primary focus on medical oncology patients with a small number of medical-surgical patients. The unit is a 36-bed telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to PCU level of care. The patient ratio is 1:4-5 for medical-surgical telemetry and 1:3 for PCU. Previous experience in a similar setting is preferred, though not required. Candidates should be adept in the interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of cardiac drips without titration. Experience with IV therapies, chemotherapy administration, and critical care protocols is essential. Ability to manage Bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and PCA pumps is required. Pediatric patients are occasionally cared for on this unit, but pediatric experience is not mandatory.
