Position Full-time, located in Downtown Honolulu, Oahu. Salary Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Officer II - $4,563 to $5,768 monthly (SR-17, Step C to I) Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Officer I - $4,221 to $5,338 monthly (SR-15, Step C to I) Responsibilities Occupational Safety and Health Compliance Officer II: Conducts inspections of construction sites and/or various workplaces; prepares reports; performs other duties as required. Occupational Safety and Health Compliance Officer I: Conducts inspections of low hazard workplaces; prepares reports; receives training; performs other duties as required. Qualifications Legal Authorization to Work: Citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. General Experience Requirement: One (1) year of work experience in an occupational safety and/or occupational health program that included industrial accident investigation, work site inspection for safety hazards, suggesting means for correcting safety hazards, and preparing reports. Specialized Experience Requirement: None for Level I. One (1) year for Level II of work experience that involved implementation of occupational safety and health laws, codes, rules, regulations and standards; conducting inspections of work sites; identifying hazards and suggesting corrective actions; conducting occupational accident investigations; knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act and its codes and standards; use of measuring and sample collection devices; and ability to enforce the codes and prepare detailed narrative reports. Non-Qualifying Experience: Work as a foreman or supervisor primarily concerned with assignment and completion of work, incidental responsibility for safety, safety committee service, or other safety and/or health fields (e.g., traffic safety, nursing) is not considered qualifying experience. Substitutions Allowed: Substitution of Education for General Experience: Successful completion of a two-year curriculum in Occupational Safety and Health at an accredited community college or other accredited institution may be substituted for the General Experience Requirement. Successful completion of 12 credit hours of course work in occupational safety and health from an accredited college or university in a program leading to a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for the General Experience Requirement. Substitution of Specialized Experience for General Experience: Excess specialized experience of the same type and quality may be substituted for the required general experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
