Staff Accountant About the Opportunity Our client, a growing organization within the distribution industry, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This position offers the opportunity to support multiple business entities, work closely with accounting leadership, and gain exposure to a variety of accounting functions in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive, with strong accounting fundamentals and advanced Excel skills. This individual will take ownership of key accounting processes, contribute to month-end close activities, and help drive efficiencies across the finance function. Responsibilities Perform daily cash and bank account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies Prepare and post journal entries, including recurring and payroll-related entries Support intercompany accounting transactions and reconciliations Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules Assist with month-end and year-end close activities Monitor cash activity and support cash management reporting Administer Positive Pay processes and banking controls Assist with financial reporting and account analysis Support fixed asset accounting and related reconciliations Prepare and assist with Sales & Use Tax filings Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects Collaborate with accounting leadership to ensure accurate and timely financial results Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred 2+ years of accounting experience Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and accounting principles Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close Experience working with ERP or accounting software systems Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Technical Skills Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required Experience with Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and XLOOKUPs Ability to analyze financial data and identify trends Strong aptitude for improving processes and increasing efficiencies Preferred Qualifications Experience with multi-entity accounting environments QuickBooks experience Exposure to Sales & Use Tax compliance Experience with cash management and financial reporting What We're Looking For Successful candidates will possess: Strong attention to detail and accuracy A proactive, ownership-driven mindset Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities Accountability and strong follow-through The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team Professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility Pay Transparency Notice Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
