Healthcare Billing Specialist Job Responsibilities

• Review financial records, billing information, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance with established policies and regulations.
• Evaluate healthcare billing and reimbursement records to identify discrepancies, errors, and potential overpayments.
• Provide guidance and assistance to healthcare providers regarding billing procedures, documentation requirements, and applicable policies.
• Review resident financial accounts and transactions to ensure proper documentation and appropriate use of funds.
• Compare financial reports and records to verify the accuracy of payment information and reporting.
• Analyze accounts receivable and assist with identifying and resolving outstanding balances or payment discrepancies.
• Process, track, and monitor billing corrections and claims adjustments.
• Prepare financial reports, review summaries, and supporting documentation.
• Identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities to improve financial accuracy and compliance.
• Communicate review findings, explain procedures, and coordinate follow-up actions with healthcare providers and other stakeholders.
• Respond to inquiries and provide assistance with billing, documentation, and administrative requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams, state agencies, and external partners to support regulatory and operational requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation while meeting established deadlines.
• Assist with audits, reviews, appeals, and other administrative proceedings as needed.

Healthcare Billing Specialist Qualifications

• Education or relevant work experience in finance, accounting, healthcare administration, business, billing, auditing, or a related field.
• Familiarity with financial records, billing procedures, payment processing, or reimbursement processes.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to review information, identify discrepancies, and solve problems.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, maintain accurate documentation, and meet deadlines.
