Job Description

The Maintenance Technician I sets up, adjusts, troubleshoots, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on conveyors, automation, robotics, and ancillary equipment with responsibility for supporting safe, efficient production and consistent product quality. Working under limited supervision, this role maintains facility systems and equipment, documents all work accurately, and serves as an escalation point for lower-level technicians while supporting a large distribution center environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and maintain assigned production and facility equipment, including conveyors, automation, robotics, and ancillary systems, to support reliable operations and product quality.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on assigned equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
• Troubleshoot out-of-service equipment, identify root causes, correct issues, and escalate to leadership.
• Serve as an escalation point for lower-level technicians, providing guidance and support on complex maintenance issues.
• Record all maintenance issues and activities in the maintenance log for each production line.
• Document all work in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and ticketing systems, maintaining accurate records of maintenance actions and equipment history.
• Maintain accurate operating logs for fire pumps, generators, HVAC equipment, and other facility systems that are tested on a routine basis.
• Perform root cause analysis of major downtime events and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Assist maintenance mechanics with tasks that require two people or additional support, especially during critical operational needs.
• Perform facility and building project work as assigned, including light bulb and ballast replacement, door repairs, furniture installation, ceiling tile replacement, carpentry tasks, plumbing repairs, and maintenance of operation logs.
• Assemble and test equipment to verify correct operation and production readiness after installation, repair, or adjustment.
• Analyze and record causes of production delays on daily production reports and initiate procedures to resolve equipment malfunctions.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of experience with conveyor, automation, or robotics equipment repair and maintenance.
• At least 3 years of experience in a building maintenance position servicing a facility larger than 75,000 square feet.
• Fundamental understanding of machinery and industrial equipment, including preventive maintenance and repair practices.
• Experience working with inputs, outputs, and PLC logic systems, including the ability to troubleshoot these systems.
• Hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting, including work with three-phase power, motors, and related components.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to stand for a minimum of 8 hours and up to 12 hours per shift, for up to 6 days per week.
• Willingness and ability to operate material handling equipment such as fork trucks.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed and be available for on-call requests.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to approximately 10% of the time for business purposes.
• Commitment to following safety procedures such as Lock Out/Tag Out and Arc Flash, and consistent use of required PPE.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, HVAC, or an equivalent technical discipline.
• Graduate of an apprenticeship program or holder of a current trade certification.
• Experience working in a technical or mechanical environment, particularly in distribution or manufacturing, with at least 6 to 12 months of plant or maintenance experience considered a plus.
• Experience in industrial logistics environments, including conveyor systems and automated material handling equipment.
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and ticketing systems for documenting maintenance activities.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large distribution center environment that operates on 1st and 3rd shift schedules. The primary schedule covers Saturday through Tuesday, with Saturday and Sunday typically running from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday typically running from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., with the possibility of working up to 12-hour shifts at times. A shift differential applies to qualifying hours.

This is a Permanent position based out of Southaven, MS.

The pay range for this position is $54620.00 - $79040.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
