Post Doctoral Scholar- Microbial Infection and Immunity

Job Title Post Doctoral Scholar – Microbial Infection and Immunity Department Medicine | School of Biomedical Sciences, Department of Microbial Infection & Immunity Job Description Post Doctoral Scholar to pursue research studying mechanisms controlling plasma membrane repair and cell death pathways during infection and inflammation under the guidance of a scientific mentor in the Department of Microbial Infection & Immunity. Designs, conducts, and evaluates research experiments; plans and executes advanced cellular biology, molecular biology, quantitative fluorescence microscopy, live‑cell imaging, and flow cytometry research techniques and procedures; develops, adopts and implements new laboratory methods; analyzes and interprets data; writes research papers for publication; performs scientific literature searches; presents research findings at local, national, or international scientific meetings; applies for postdoctoral fellowships; assists PI with writing and submitting grant proposals to obtain extramural funding in support of research; participates in journal clubs, laboratory meetings, and department seminars and activities; assists with training of other lab members. Required Education MD, PhD, or MD/PhD required. Qualifications Ability to interact in a highly multidisciplinary environment Experience with cellular biology, molecular biology, quantitative fluorescence microscopy, live‑cell imaging, and flow cytometry research techniques and procedures Experience with animal handling and husbandry (desired) Successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre‑employment physical, including a drug screen Additional Information Location: Biomedical Research Tower (0112) Position type: Term (Fixed Term) Scheduled hours: 40 per week Shift: First Shift Benefits Medical, dental, and vision coverage with Ohio State paying a significant portion of the cost Paid time off, including sick and vacation time and 11 holidays State retirement plan or an alternative retirement plan with generous employer contributions Equal Opportunity Statement The university is an equal opportunity employer, including veterans and disability. #J-18808-Ljbffr Ohio State University
