Submit a cover letter and updated resume by September 23, 2025 Job Details: Posting Date: September 16, 2025 Job Title: Middle Tyger Branch Assistant, Grade 19 Location: Middle Tyger Library Date Available: October 1, 2025 Salary: $1,588 per month (Includes some benefits) Hours: 25 hours per week Sunday 12-5pm; Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 4-8pm; Thursday 2:30-8pm Note: Must be flexible to accommodate schedule changes, may be asked to work other times as needed. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must pass pre-employment testing. Essential Functions: Provides superior customer service when assisting patrons of all ages with information requests, patron account services, computers, digital services, and other library equipment. Assists with promoting library card sign-ups and community outreach. Assists with all circulation duties, library card registration, patron account services, and collection maintenance. Works with a variety of software and library automation programs. Contributes to branch meetings and workflow by making suggestions and sharing ideas. Regularly checks the branch email, Intranet, and library website for new information. Remains aware of security and safety concerns, taking appropriate action as needed. Performs basic readers’ advisory and information assistance, material retrieval, and places hold requests. Responsible for weekly in-transit and missing reports. Assists with preparing courier bins for delivery and in processing. Assists with maintaining the tidiness of the shelves and display areas. Assists with training new employees and assisting with additional branch coverage for programming. Responsible for opening and closing procedures for the Branch, including register and deposit tasks. Supports supervisor directives and assumes responsibility of building and staff in supervisor’s absence. Knowledge & Skills: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Comfortable and proficient using technology, including digital devices. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Creative, flexible, and organized with good time management skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks, take direction, and work independently or in a team environment. Experience working with library programming with strong knowledge of reading materials for adults. Knowledge of popular books, movies & television, pop culture, and current events. Valid driver’s license with the ability to drive to other libraries or community outreach. The library accepts applications with cover letter and resume when a job position is available.
