Front Office Assistant Manager

Kansas City Marriott Downtown

Front Office Assistant Manager Position located in Kansas City, United States. Working under the Front Office Director, this role focuses on welcoming guests, maximizing revenue, and supervising front desk operations. Job Summary The Front Office Assistant Manager assists the Front Office Director with day-to-day operations, offering courteous, efficient service to guests while promoting room revenue and occupancy. Responsibilities Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous manner. Maintain regular attendance and comply with scheduling standards. Enforce brand standards for appearance, uniform, and name tags. Comply with all Avion Hospitality standards, including Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR & First Aid certifications. Respond to guest requests, complaints, and emergencies professionally and follow up for satisfaction. Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline front desk personnel; prepare interview and hiring procedures. Conduct employee performance appraisals and manage morale and training. Maximize room revenue by reviewing daily status, analyzing rate efficiency, monitoring credit, and observing house count. Attend Rooms Merchandising meetings, prepare reports, and implement sell guidelines. Supervise Night Audit functions and monitor charge worksheet accuracy. Review payroll hours, assist with scheduling, and ensure accurate billing for no-shows. Maintain purchase order and vouchering records. Coordinate with Accounting on returned checks, credit card issues, and discrepancies. Operate front office computer systems, PBX console, reservation process, and radio communications. Enforce hospitality policies, house rules, and cash handling procedures. Manage lost and found, key control, and emergency procedures. Attend team meetings, support departmental goals, and maintain organized records. Other duties as required. Qualifications At least 4 years progressive experience in a hotel or related field, or 2-year college degree plus 2+ years related experience, or a 4-year degree plus 1+ year related experience. Supervisory experience required. Proficiency in Windows operating systems. Strong communication skills and the ability to convey information clearly. Ability to evaluate alternatives quickly and accurately. Works well under stressful, high-pressure situations and maintains composure. Effective problem solver, anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving issues. Integrates complex information from multiple sources. Excellent listening and clarification skills with coworkers and guests. Financial and arithmetic competency.
