FLSA Status: Non -Exempt                                                                   Travel Requirements: 25%

SUMMARY

As the entry point for domestic violence victims at DVCC, the Intake and Crisis Coordinator ensures all crisis calls and walk-ins are handled promptly, and clients' concerns and needs are addressed. Provides crisis intervention, information and referrals, and assists victims in developing safety plans. This position works in partnership with all agency departments as the point triage and navigation in assisting victims with a seamless transition to services that can be easily accessed based on department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Crisis Intervention

• Ensure all walk-ins, incoming hotline and LAP or any other crisis calls during office hours are handled promptly assessing immediate danger, safety risks and addressing client’s concerns and needs.  
• Provide assistance with trauma informed, strength based, and client defined manner by listening to clients’ priorities to determine and offer appropriate referrals.
• Offer and complete warm referral to agency departments for ongoing supports and service provision such as: criminal and civil legal advocacy, individual and group counseling, children and youth services, emergency shelter, financial and housing advocacy, etc.
• Assess clients for shelter admission in collaboration with residential staff using universal shelter intake processes and procedures.

Intake 

• Provides intake, crisis intervention, safety planning assessments, and completes victim compensation applications to support the client.
• Serve as the main point of entry for all new DVCC clients, completing full intakes, including informed consent for services forms and all intake paperwork, gathering demographic information, and assessing clients’ needs and referring internally and externally to services that will meet those needs. 
• Communicates with all departments to refer clients to specific departments depending the services needed and/or required. Stays abreast of services provided by each DVCC department and internal referral procedures.
• Assesses clients for shelter admission in collaboration with residential staff using universal shelter intake processes and procedures.
• Work collaboratively with CCADV staff, member programs, staff and community partners.

Administrative Tasks

• Understand and strive to meet agency metrics and quality and performance standards while providing excellent and consistent customer service.
• Maintains statistical data collection system on clients and the services provided via ETO.  
• Report on statistics accurately and in a timely fashion.
• Adhere to established procedures concerning documentation, statistical analysis and reports.

• Support agency mission by participating in community meetings and committees as requested by supervisor.
• Contribute to quality services by staying informed of developments and trends in the area of domestic violence and local resources.
• Navigate clients through the various social and justice systems necessary to move from victim to survivor.
• Guided by established procedures, policies and processes related to the organization’s missions and goals.
• Participate in agency meetings, trainings and events.

Qualifications:

• At minimum, a bachelor’s degree in a human services or related field, a combination of appropriate higher educational training and work or intern/volunteer experience may be considered (i.e., two years of work experience is equal to one year of college education)
• The ability to work with staff and survivors of diverse backgrounds, values, and life experiences.
• Strong interpersonal skills that allow for working independently and as a team member
• Verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish preferred. Bilingual individuals of other growing, culturally specific communities within Connecticut are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to maintain complete, accurate and timely service records in the ETO Platform
• Ability to effectively utilize phone systems and navigate omni-channel platforms to ensure seamless communication and customer interaction.
• Ability to multi-task, set priorities and manage time effectively.

• Successful completion and maintenance of domestic violence counselor certification, per CGS 52 146k
• High degree of comfort and knowledge operating computer-based technology and various information databases.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position approximately 70% of the time.
• Ongoing compliance with federal funding requirements including successful completion of background checks and drug screens.

• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel in all weather conditions to ensure prompt attendance and availability as required.
• Flexibility to cover other shifts when necessary.
• This position is eligible for a remote workday after a 6-month probationary period; however, eligibility is contingent upon meeting all established performance metrics.
