Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to join our finance team and support the day-to-day financial operations of our growing company. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is responsible for managing core accounting functions—from financial reporting and compliance to billing, payroll coordination, and internal controls. Responsibilities Financial Oversight & Reporting – Manage core accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial statements, budgets, and cash flow forecasting Regulatory Compliance – Ensure adherence to GAAP, tax regulations, and waste industry-specific financial reporting requirements Cost Control & Efficiency – Monitor operational expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support margin optimization Billing & Revenue Management – Oversee customer invoicing, collections, and contract pricing to ensure accuracy and timely payments Payroll & Benefits Administration – Coordinate payroll processing, employee benefits accounting, and labor cost tracking Banking & Cash Flow Management – Maintain banking relationships, monitor cash flow, and assist with financing needs Internal Controls & Risk Management – Implement and uphold financial controls and risk mitigation strategies to prevent fraud and enhance accountability Team Leadership & Development – Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering professional development and high performance Capital Expenditure & Asset Management – Track and manage waste trucks, containers, and other capital investments Financial Analysis & Reporting Support – Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic reporting to support business growth Qualifications & Experience 5+ years of accounting or finance experience, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or lead role Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar); high proficiency in Excel Background in operational or service-industry accounting preferred (waste, logistics, construction, or similar) Demonstrated ability to manage billing, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and month-end close Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment Effective communicator who can present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA a plus Why Join 5280 Waste Solutions The only Front Range hauler offering all three streams—trash, recycling, and composting—with a genuine sustainability mission Locally owned and operated with a strong, growing reputation in the Denver market Collaborative team environment with direct access to leadership and real impact on company direction Clear growth opportunities as we scale—this role has a path toward senior finance leadership Supportive culture that genuinely cares about doing right by customers, community, and the environment Compensation: Base salary commensurate with experience ($90,000-$140,000) Benefits: Comprehensive Medical, Vision and Dental, 401(k) and employer matching, PTO #J-18808-Ljbffr 5280 Waste Solutions
