Travel Radiation Therapist

American Traveler is seeking a Radiation Therapist with ARRT certification and Oregon state licensure for a hospital-based Radiation Oncology department.

Job Details

• Hospital Radiation Oncology department setting,
• Fast-paced environment treating 70-95 patients per day across three treatment machines,
• Uses Varian TrueBeam, Trilogy, and Acuity Linear Accelerators, as well as GE Lightspeed CT,
• Uses Aria for electronic charting,
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hour shifts between 6:00 AM and 7:30 PM, Monday through Friday,
• 40 hours per week,
• 13-week contract length,
• No call required,
• May be required to float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital approximately 15 minutes away,

Job Requirements

• ARRT (R) certification required,
• Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) state licensure required if applicable,
• BLS certification required,
• Minimum of 1 year of Radiation Therapy experience required,
• Successful completion of a Radiation Therapy program required,
• Experience with Varian TrueBeam or Edge, and Aria required,
• Experience with SBRT, SRS, and Breathhold Visual Management preferred,
• Epic charting experience required,
• Ability to safely transfer patients using proper body mechanics and transfer techniques,
• Ability to perform simple RadCalc calculations for emergency treatments,

Additional Information

• Simulate and administer radiation treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist and directed by the Radiation Physicist and Dosimetrist,
• Interpret prescriptions and treatment plans, and complete patient identification processes per department procedure,
• Maintain audio and visual surveillance of patients during treatment and accurately position patients for each session,
• Image patients as directed and accurately annotate portal images,
• Observe and report patient side-effects, behavioral changes, or unusual reactions to the appropriate clinical team member,
• Use digital camera to document treatment positioning and skin markings,
• Construct quality immobilization devices and accurately fabricate custom blocks,
• Accurately and safely tattoo patients as appropriate, following safe needle handling practices,
• Participate in daily chart rounds to coordinate patient care and complete Aria chart checks per department policy,
• Complete weekly block room cleaning and HEPA filter checks with proper documentation,
• Coordinate simulation scheduling with the clinic to support continuity of care,
• Former permanent employees of the health system are not eligible to apply for travel positions within six months of their termination date,
