Job Description
We are working with one of the oldest and largest management side, labor and employment law firms in the country. The firm seeks employment litigation attorneys with over seven years of experience (7+) to join its Virtual Office team, as Special Counsel, in particular target states, identified above and below . The role is remote, except for any deposition, court, or administrative hearing appearances requiring a physical presence. Expertise handling employment law matters and the ability to work independently in a remote setting are essential. Preferred qualifications include prior practice in a law firm and experience with EPLI matters. The role requires some travel, mostly local. Attorneys hired will collaborate with firm partners and an attorney team. They will benefit from the support of a paralegal team and a shared secretarial pool within the firm’s Virtual Office.
\n \n \nThe Special Counsel role requires efficient, high quality legal work and offers the challenge of a full-cycle litigation practice; however, it allows attorneys serving in it increased flexibility, including options r e billable hours expectations, which the attorneys, individually, participate in setting for themselves in dialogue with appropriate firm personnel. The position imposes no business development pressure, allowing attorneys filling these roles to concentrate on providing exceptional legal services without the burden of additional non-billable hour demands. \nSala ry for the firm’s Special Counsel roles is $172,000-217,500, depending upon office location inside or outside of California; an attorney’s actual employment litigation experience, skills, and qualifications; and billable hours set with the firm at 1500, 1600, 1700, or 1850, respectively, per year. \n \nRESPONSIBILITIES
\n- \n
- Handling administrative charges, attorney demand letters, and employment litigation for a number of the firm’s clients, including those carrying Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) \n
- Handling single-plaintiff litigation, including class actions and PAGA cases, as well as other labor and employment law matters \n
- Handling employment matters, directly, and supervising others \n
- Developing case strategies \n
- Drafting and reviewing work product \n
- Conducting depositions \n
- Representing clients at hearings, conferences, depositions, and trials \n
- In selected target states, as specified below, handling PEO litigation and/or general liability and negligence litigation \n
- In selected target states, as specified below, focusing on wage and hour matters \n
QUALIFICATIONS

- JD from an ABA accredited law school \n
- Licens ure in good standing, as well as residence in one of the target st ates for which the firm needs Special Counsel, name ly: Califo rnia (in Northern California, PEO litigation experience is necessar y); Florida; New York & New Jer sey (licenses, in both, with general liability and negligence experience, in addition to the standard requirements of the Special Counsel role, as set forth in this posti ng; Kentucky & O hio (licensed in bot h); Geo rgia (including wage and hou r); Arizona; Washington S tate (with wage and hour and EPLI experience, as well as experience advising and counselin g); Massachus etts (with general liability and negligence experience, in addition to the standard requirements of the Special Counsel role, as set forth in this posting); and Pennsylva nia (with general liability and negligence experience, in addition to the standard requirements of the Special Counsel role, as set forth in this posting \n
