Trusts & Estates Associate

RIW is seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates Associate to join its established and growing practice. The role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated estate planning, wealth transfer, trust administration, and probate matters for a diverse client base, including high-net-worth individuals and families, fiduciaries, business owners and closely held businesses. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with attorneys and professional advisors while providing practical, client-focused counsel and contributing to the continued growth of the Trusts & Estates practice. Key Responsibilities: Draft and implement estate planning documents, including revocable trusts and ILITs Draft and implement sophisticated estate planning documents, including SLATs, ILITs, IDGTs, QPRTs, and GRATs and related wealth transfer strategies including gifting and installment sales of business interests Preparation of family limited liability companies and limited partnerships Counsel clients regarding estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax planning Advise fiduciaries on trust and estate administration matters Handle probate and trust administration matters from inception through closing Prepare and review estate and gift tax returns Collaborate with accounts, financial advisors, and other professional advisors Participate in business development and client relationship activities Contribute to the continued growth of the Trusts & Estates practice Qualifications: JD from an accredited law school Admission practice in Massachusetts 5+ years of Trusts and Estates experience Strong experience with sophisticated estate planning and administration matters Working knowledge of general estate, gift and GST tax planning Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills Ability to manage client relationships independently; portable business a plus LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning a plus RIW offers a comprehensive benefits package as part of total compensation, including: Medical coverage (100% employee premium paid by RIW, plus deductible cost reimbursement Life Insurance 401 (k) match and profit sharing Hybrid schedule with one remote workday per week, consistent with firm policy Generous PTO Expected compensation range is the mid $100s to upper $100s commensurate with experience, qualifications and strong references About RIW Founded in 1969, RIW is a well-established Boston law firm known for its collaborative culture, sophisticated client work, and commitment to long-term professional success.
