Senior Mechanical Engineer

Position SummaryOdyssey has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer supporting the SDBII program within the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Armament Directorate Attack Division (AFLCMC/EBD). The Attack division forges innovative, agile attack capabilities at the speed of relevance to support the US Warfighter and Coalition Partners. In this Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) role, you will provide mechanical engineering support to the SBDII program across the acquisition lifecycle to ensure weapon systems, subsystems, and support equipment meet program objectives for cost, schedule, performance, and compliance.This is a full-time onsite position at Eglin AFB, Florida.ResponsibilitiesDuties include, but not limited to: Provide mechanical/aerospace/materials engineering support across the acquisition, development, and sustainment lifecycle.Apply advanced engineering principles to ensure technical efforts align with program objectives, cost, schedule, and performance requirements.Assist with engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and technical recommendations supporting system and equipment performance.Support planning and execution of complex engineering tasks involving:Statics, Dynamics, TribologyMechanical wear, Fatigue, CorrosionFluid dynamics, ThermodynamicsAssist in the generation and interpretation of technical data packages, including 2D drawings and 3D models.Support testing, evaluation, life prediction, and standardization of materials and material properties used in engineering design.Provide technical inputs to briefings, technical reviews, and program documentation in support of Government decision-making.Collaborate within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to support mission execution and program success.QualificationsCitizenship: Must be a US citizenMinimum Required QualificationsMust have and be able to maintain an active Secret clearanceBachelor’s degree in related discipline and 8 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in related discipline and 6 years of relevant experiencePreferred QualificationsABET accredited Engineering degreeBachelor’s degree in related discipline from an ABET-accredited engineering program and 20 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in related discipline from an ABET-accredited engineering program and 15 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in related discipline from an ABET-accredited engineering program and 5 years of relevant experienceAdditionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate the following: Technical SkillsMechanical engineering fundamentals (Statics, Dynamics, Wear, Fatigue, Corrosion, Tribology)Fluid dynamics and thermodynamics analysisTechnical data package review (2D drawings, 3D models)Materials engineering concepts including life prediction and standardizationEngineering support for acquisition, development, and sustainment programsInterpersonal SkillsStrong written and verbal communicationStrong analytical problem-solving skillsAbility to collaborate effectively in IPT environmentsHigh attention to detail and ability to support multiple prioritiesAdditional InformationLocation: Eglin AFB, FLTravel: Travel may be required per the customer's discretion.Work Environment: Onsite9/80 work schedule option may be available#LI-TG1Company OverviewOdyssey is a world-class technical, engineering, and integration company serving the warfighting ecosystem with airborne integration, ISR, C2, and warfighter readiness capabilities.
