Surveyor - Hospital MD (Psych)

Overview The Hospital MD – Psychiatrist Field Representative surveys health care organizations throughout the United States. Applies systems analysis skills and inductive reasoning to determine the degree of compliance with applicable standards and functionality of care delivery systems. Engages health care organization staff in interactive dialogues on standards‑based issues to assess compliance and identify opportunities for improvement. Prepares management reports that link standards deficiencies with potential systems vulnerabilities and related risk points. Effectively communicates this information to organization leadership in a constructive and collegial style. Participates in other Joint Commission activities as assigned by supervisor. Nationwide Search Selected candidate can be located anywhere in the United States. All positions require 100% nationwide travel. Qualifications Board‑certified psychiatrist with a current professional medical license in the discipline and board certification at time of hire, maintained throughout employment. Must hold a CPHQ certification (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) through NAHQ at time of hire or attain it by 12/31/28. Five years of experience in various hospital and health care system components, including at least three years of direct clinical experience and two years of management experience. Knowledge of the Joint Commission accreditation process and direct involvement in two Joint Commission surveys. Excellent critical thinking, problem‑solving, interpersonal, interviewing, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills. Part‑Time Availability 1 week (0.23 FTE), 2 weeks (0.48 FTE), or 3 weeks (0.7 FTE) per month. 0.22 FTE requires submission of one calendar week of availability per month. Full time (1.0 FTE) is also available. Physical Abilities Must observe, in real time, all applicable types of ongoing health care treatment without slowing or interrupting progress. Standing for long periods, walking lengthy distances, lifting, climbing, stooping, pulling, and pushing to inspect facilities, equipment, and procedures. Walking up and down stairways to test escape routes, assess safety of emergency exits, and ensure regulatory compliance. Removing obstructed covers or impediments to equipment or mechanical areas. Examining small and often dirty printed labels on equipment. Extensive travel including driving, flying on small airplanes, traveling in all weather conditions, and accessing remote locations.
