Medical Records Specialist

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM Location: Onsite Pay: $18/hour Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist II to support the management, processing, and quality of patient medical records. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate medical documentation, processing medical record requests, and ensuring records are handled in accordance with HIPAA and privacy requirements. Responsibilities Index, scan, organize, and maintain patient medical records within electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems. Process requests for medical records from patients, insurance companies, legal representatives, and other authorized parties. Review and audit medical records to ensure documentation is complete and accurate. Prepare and review patient charts for upcoming appointments, procedures, or surgeries. Identify missing or incomplete documentation and follow up with appropriate departments. Perform accurate and timely data entry while maintaining patient confidentiality. Ensure medical records are processed according to HIPAA, privacy, and organizational requirements. Assist with quality assurance activities and identify documentation discrepancies. Provide support and guidance to other team members as needed. May assist with training new employees and participate in team meetings or huddles. Maintain a high level of accuracy while handling confidential medical information. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. 1–4 years of experience in medical records, health information management, healthcare administration, medical data entry, or a related field preferred. Experience working with EHR/EMR systems such as Epic, Allscripts, or similar platforms preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation. Strong data entry and computer skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
