Sous Chef – Newburyport, MA
One of Newburyport's best restaurants is looking for a hands-on Sous Chef who loves to cook and is ready to bring skill, consistency, and creativity to a kitchen built on regional American cuisine with a seasonal, diverse edge.
This is an opportunity to work alongside a team that takes pride in its food, its guests, and its reputation in the Newburyport community. The menu changes with the seasons, and its dining room and bar are known for a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere, whether guests are stopping in for lunch, dinner, or Sunday jazz.
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong Line Cook ready for the next step
- A solid grasp of technique, plating, and kitchen organization
- The ability to lead a shift, support the Executive Chef, and keep standards consistent under pressure
- A genuine interest in seasonal ingredients and regional American cooking
- A team-first mindset and the composure to handle a full house
What You'll Do
- Support daily kitchen operations, from prep through service
- Help maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation across the menu
- Train and mentor kitchen staff, reinforcing standards on the line
- Manage inventory, ordering, and food cost alongside the Executive Chef
- Uphold health, safety, and sanitation standards at every station
