Title: RN - Medical/Surgical Observation


Location: Slidell, LA


Duration: 3+ Months


Shift: Night Shift, 12 Hours


Schedule: 36 Hours per Week

Job Summary:


We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Observation Unit and provide high-quality patient care in a Medical/Surgical setting. The RN will utilize the nursing process, clinical judgment, and evidence-based practices to deliver safe, compassionate care while collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. This role requires strong assessment skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple patient needs in a fast-paced clinical environment.


Responsibilities:
• Deliver comprehensive patient care utilizing the nursing process and established nursing standards.
• Perform patient assessments, develop care plans, and evaluate treatment outcomes.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge planning.
• Coordinate care with physicians, case managers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Delegate responsibilities appropriately and support ancillary staff in delivering quality care.
• Monitor patient progress and utilize clinical data to improve outcomes and patient safety.
• Promote patient satisfaction and maintain a patient-centered approach to care delivery.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
• Perform additional duties as required to support unit and departmental goals.


Education:
• Registered Nurse Diploma required.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.


Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
• Medical/Surgical or Observation Unit experience preferred.


Licensure & Certifications:
• Active RN license in the state of practice.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Specialty nursing certification preferred.
• CPI certification is not required for this role.

• Proficiency with electronic medical records and healthcare software applications.

Work Environment:
• Observation and Medical/Surgical patient care setting requiring continuous patient assessment and monitoring.
• Routine exposure to blood, bodily fluids, tissues, and communicable diseases.
• Potential exposure to hazardous medications and healthcare-related waste.
• Ability to perform heavy physical work, including lifting, transferring, and assisting patients as needed.
