Job Description As a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) at Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, you will help patients regain independence and achieve their recovery goals. Responsibilities Working under the direction of licensed personnel, you will assist patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. You will also assist with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration, and perform the following: Perform vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested. Complete all documentation in the medical record as required. Interact with patients and their families effectively. Help patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks, including bathing, dressing, using the toilet if needed, and feeding. Assist with turning and repositioning patients in bed and moving them between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one. Listen to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. (Experience in lieu of a degree is not accepted.) Licenses & Credentials: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification; Certified Medical Assistant (national certification) preferred; Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (Massachusetts) preferred; Nursing Assistant (LNA – New Hampshire) preferred. Experience: 1–2 years working in patient care/elder care preferred. Skills & Abilities: Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; knowledge of medical terminology; strong patient/customer service skills; ability to lift up to 35 pounds; proficient computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
