Overview
Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (L&D) in San Luis Obispo, California. This travel assignment starts 09/14/2026 for 13 weeks, with a weekly pay range of $2,734–$2,808 and guaranteed 36 hours per week. Shift: Night shifts (3x12) from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, including management of obstetric emergencies and circulating for C-sections.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status; assess amniotic fluid, vaginal bleeding, and overall fetal well-being; implement appropriate maternal pain management and alternative modalities when suitable.
- Assist with epidural catheter placement, monitor patient status during and after administration, and respond to perinatal emergencies (e.g., crash C-section, precipitous delivery, shoulder dystocia).
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team; supervise and delegate tasks to ancillary staff within scope of practice; ensure accurate documentation and care plans.
- Provide patient/family education across perinatal and postpartum stages, including newborn care and discharge planning.
- Maintain clinical judgment in crisis situations, adhere to unit policies, and support a safe, patient-centered environment.

Requirements
- Active RN license in the state of practice (California)
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
- Experience: Minimum of two years of recent Labor & Delivery experience
- Certifications: Current BLS; ACLS; PALS; NRP; Intermediate Fetal Monitoring; Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) or AWHONN; AHA/ARC BLS and ACLS as applicable; NRP per policy
- Licenses/Certifications: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required; department-specific FHM/AWHONN certification preferred
- Ability to work night shift in a Short Term Acute Care Hospital setting and to collaborate effectively with a perinatal care team
