Orange County Public Schools ESE POL & PROCEDURES PUB K12 - Orlando, Florida Position Staffing Specialist (Full-time) Overview To provide an appropriate educational atmosphere which encourages positive student learning and to participate in a dynamic setting with other classroom teachers, administrators, curriculum specialists and other staff members in the development and implementation of the school’s programs and goals. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Certification or eligibility for certification by the Florida State Department of Education to teach in the State of Florida. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of prescribed curriculum and child development. Ability to communicate effectively using written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of current research. Basic knowledge of technology. Planning and organizational skills. Ability to manage the classroom and supervise students. Skill in analyzing, diagnosing and evaluating student progress and programs. Knowledge of varied learning styles. Effective, positive interpersonal skills. Commitment to a core set of beliefs about teaching, learning, and ongoing professional development. Job Duties and Responsibilities Work with administrators and instructional teams to plan and implement hands‑on programs and activities for students and the school. Participate as an active member with other faculty and staff. Collaborate in planning, implementing and evaluating programs of continuing school improvement. Manage classroom and supervise proper care of equipment. Engage in professional growth activities focused on acquiring new and improved skills and knowledge. Diagnose and analyze student progress and programs to provide appropriate instruction based on developmental stages. Use a variety of instructional techniques to meet the individual needs of students. Incorporate technology and current research into instruction. Evaluate students’ progress on a regular basis. Use classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom climate. Show sensitivity to students, parents, and the community and promote student self‑esteem. Maintain professional relationships between the school and parents. Communicate with parents through conferences, telephone, or written communication. Encourage parental involvement through school activities, connecting home and school. Maintain all records as required, including grade books, attendance records and student progress reports. Assist in protecting student and school property. Keep up to date on current technology useful to OCPS and attend training as needed. Maintain timely and accurate information as part of job responsibilities. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal. Physical and Sensory Requirements Tasks involve light to moderate physical effort such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing 10–20 pounds. Visual perception and discrimination are required; some tasks require oral communication ability. The work environment is not subject to adverse conditions such as extreme temperatures, noise, or hazardous substances.
