Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU

Position Overview

In the ICU, you manage critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring, mechanical support, and rapid response to changing conditions.

You work within a multidisciplinary team to stabilize, treat, and plan for recovery or transition.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity nursing care with invasive monitoring and ventilator management
• Administer medications, adjust therapies, and interpret labs and imaging
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists for complex care
• Document care plans, responses to therapies, and family updates in the EHR
• Participate in rounds, escalation of care, and crisis management
• Coordinate transitions to step-down units or discharge planning when appropriate

Qualifications

Education: BSN preferred; ADN acceptable with critical care experience

Licensure: Current, active Registered Nurse license in the United States

Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if pediatric patients are treated

Experience or Skills: Experience in ICU or critical care settings; strong assessment, ventilator and hemodynamic management, and crisis response skills

Experience

• 2+ years in ICU or critical care units
• Experience with invasive monitoring and complex medical-surgical care
• Experience in interdisciplinary rounds and family communication

Preferred

• CCRN or equivalent critical care certification
• Experience with ECMO, severe sepsis, or multi-organ support

Work Environment

Intensive care unit with high patient acuity; fast-paced and high-stakes decision making

Shift patterns often include 12-hour blocks; collaborative, technology-driven documentation is routine
