Data StewardOur client is looking for an advance Data Steward for their team.This is a full time position, located in Houston, onsite M-F, no sponsorship at this time.Job DescriptionUnderstand broadly the data use cases within our business and liaise with development teams and application owners to ensure data discovery, access and management features are meeting their evolving needsDevelop and execute data quality processes to ensure data being consumed by our business can be trusted and is accurateContinually curate our data catalogue including performing validation of metadata, data tagging and inactivation of obsolete dataWork directly with business stakeholders to develop data naming rules that align with their view and allow for easy identificationLead product onboardings including cataloguing of new data elements in collaboration with our data acquisition technical teamDevelop policies and procedures to ensure appropriate access rules are in place and access groups are defined and maintainedEnsure that data is properly classified as restricted, regulated or public as it relates to the distribution of the data in accordance with data provider contractsParticipate in the development of data polices including data retention, data privacy, data use and regulationsProvide guidance, testing support and validation as data assets, dashboards and reports are built for their area to ensure that they conform to business processesQualificationsExposure to commodities trading environment including relevant market/fundamental data sources, types and concepts2+ years of basic Python scripting or development expertise2+ years of SQL experience and awareness of database technologies like Oracle RDBM, SQL Server or PostreSQLDemonstrated technical writing expertise in a professional environment including business analysis and application usage documentationEffective communication skills with the ability to communicate with technical and business stakeholdersBusiness/Finance/MIS or related relevant degreeAdditional InformationPersonal CharacteristicsTeam playerSelf-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing prioritiesAble to work in a high-pressure environment with changing prioritiesProactive and customer focused, “make it work” mentalityHighly responsive, energetic and enthusiasticResourceful and able to think creatively and adapt
