Position

We are seeking an experienced  Medical Billing / Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Albuquerque team. This position is responsible for billing, claims follow-up, collections, denials, appeals, and accounts receivable for  Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payers .

Primary Responsibilities

• Submit and follow up on medical claims
• Work outstanding Accounts Receivable (AR) and aging reports
• Investigate unpaid, underpaid, and delayed claims
• Resolve claim denials and submit appeals
• Verify Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance eligibility
• Review claims for accuracy and payer requirements
• Verify and correct HCPCS and ICD-10 information
• Post account charges and payments
• Follow up with insurance companies regarding claim status and reimbursement
• Perform billing audits based on aging, payer, dollar amount, and non-payment issues
• Re-bill and correct claims as necessary
• Maintain accurate and detailed account notes
• Track prescriptions, CMNs, letters of medical necessity, authorizations, and other required documentation
• Identify and follow up on reauthorizations
• Handle patient collection calls professionally
• Communicate reimbursement issues and concerns to the AR Manager
• Maintain compliance with payer requirements and company policies

Qualifications

Required:

• At least 2 years of Medical Billing & Coding experience OR a Medical Billing & Coding educational certificate
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing
• Familiarity with HCPCS and ICD-10 terminology
• Strong AR and claims follow-up skills
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• High school diploma or GED
• Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and payer portals
• Ability to type at least 35 WPM

Preferred:

• 3+ years of medical billing or healthcare AR experience
• DME/HME billing experience
• Medicare billing experience
• Experience with denials, appeals, and aging AR
• Medical Billing & Coding certificate
• Ten-key proficiency
