Since opening our doors in 1959, Cibola General Hospital has been dedicated to meeting the healthcare needs of our region. As a critical access hospital in Grants, NM, we play an essential role in delivering care to surrounding rural communities, providing access to important medical services closer to home.

Our 25-bed critical access hospital allows our compassionate workers to provide excellent patient care in an environment that supports them in their professional growth and development. Cibola General Hospital is one hour from Albuquerque and close to Santa Fe. Known for its mild year-round climate and outdoor activities, Grants New Mexico offers low property taxes and inexpensive housing costs.

Cibola General Hospital provides services in general surgery, 24-hour Emergency care, Intensive Care, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics, Pathology, Podiatry, Primary Care and Radiology with X-ray, CT, MRI. We have three operating rooms including a room for scopes. Outpatient Behavioral Health Services, Clinics, Lab services, Pharmacy, Cardiopulmonary, and Rehab.

Certification Training Program

We are thrilled to announce that we will reimburse employees for approved and job-specific certifications, including ACLS, PALS, and EMT, for example, and will also be compensated for each certification obtained, which will be an additional $0.75 to your hourly rate for each one. Employee Referral Plan

CGH rewards up to $2,000 to employees of the hospital and clinic who identify and refer potential applicants who are hired into approved positions. The referral incentive will be awarded only for applicants who are hired and successfully complete ninety (90) days of active employment in a regular full-time position in the following jobs: Registered Nurse, Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Technologist, Ultrasound Technologist, Radiologic Technologist, Pharmacist, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Physician, Physician's Assistant, and Nurse Practitioner.

Position Overview

Registered Nurse is a compassionate, licensed professional who delivers safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care through the full nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will coordinate individualized patient education, guide and supervise ancillary team members, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and consistently uphold professional nursing standards. All practice must align with the New Mexico Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, procedures, and current evidence-based guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Deliver direct patient care across the lifespan while promoting optimal health outcomes.
• Provide clear, culturally sensitive education to patients and families, supporting health literacy and successful transitions of care.
• Direct and supervise licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and other ancillary personnel.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and the broader care team.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and ongoing professional development.
• Float to other departments as needed, with appropriate orientation and training.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support hospital operations and patient needs.

Requirements

General Qualifications

• Current New Mexico RN license or active Multi-State Compact (eNLC) license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association (or equivalent).
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Education and clinical experience that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for the assigned department.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to deliver compassionate, culturally competent care to patients of all ages (pediatric through geriatric).
• Strong team player with flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning.

Department-Specific Qualifications

• Emergency Department (ED)
• Current BLS and ACLS required.
• PALS required within 12 months of hire.
• TNCC and ENPC preferred.
• Ability to perform effectively in high-stress environments while providing emergency care across the lifespan.
• Competence in assisting with advanced procedures (intubation, chest tube insertion, central lines, etc.).
• Proficiency in ACLS protocols and rapid clinical decision-making.

Physical, Environmental & Psychological Considerations

• Frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens, body fluids, infectious diseases, and biohazardous materials.
• Work occurs primarily in a temperature-controlled hospital setting with occasional exposure to varied sounds, odors, and emotionally challenging situations.
• Must be physically able to lift, position, and transfer patients using proper body mechanics and assistive equipment.
