Position Profile

The New Patient Coordinator provides exceptional customer service while responding to questions and requests for information about HOV's, Geriatric Solutions program. This role will process new patient referrals. Coordinate with billing staff to verify, document and communicate commercial insurance eligibility.


Responsibilities

• Serves as expert resource on Geriatric Solutions services.
• Manages referral process to ensure referrals are identified and processed in an accurate and timely manner.
• Creates patient account in the HER.
• Coordinators with billing team to verify, document, and communicate commercial insurance eligibility.
• Collaborates with Medical Assistant's and/or Schedulers to schedule patient's first appointment.
• Ensures all patient intake forms are completed.
• Monitors incoming referrals by fax, email, telephone, and web submission.
• Maintains New Patient files and documentation.
• Handles sensitive information and abides by HIPPA standards.
• Ensures all necessary paperwork is collected and verified.
• Calls referring offices to gather missing or undocumented information.
• Calls the referred patient to gather missing information.
• Establishes and maintains positive customer relationships.
• Provides administrative support to Geriatric Solutions team.
• Maintains professional knowledge and enhances professional skills.
• Adheres to high standards of personal and professional conduct.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Must be proficient using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and possess intermediate level skills on Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual - Spanish speaking.
• Prior experience verifying insurance and/or interfacing with insurance companies.
• Expereince working with Athena
• One year or more working in a healthcare environment.
• Customer service experience in a medical setting.
