Detroit Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Director Labor and Delivery for a nursing job in Detroit, Michigan. Job Summary Assure quality and appropriateness of care; facilitate the establishment of unit-based quality improvement programs and support continuous improvement processes. Create an environment of shared decision‑making; promote multidisciplinary collaboration on patient care and related issues; serve as a facilitator by removing barriers that prevent staff from performing effectively and efficiently. Promote positive customer relations with physicians, patients, families, visitors and employees; follow up on all complaints and provide feedback; monitor levels of patient, staff and physician satisfaction. Plan, implement and evaluate staff development and competency maintenance programs; ensure that performance‑improvement findings are incorporated into educational programs and support professional growth initiatives. Develop, implement, monitor and adjust capital and operating budgets; provide variance reports and corrective‑action plans; mentor subordinate staff in budget creation and evaluation. Develop business plans and or requests for proposals as required. Interview, select, evaluate, counsel, discipline and terminate unit personnel; ensure timely completion of human‑resources activities in accordance with policies. Ensure policies, procedures and standards for the unit/service area are reviewed, revised and evidence‑based; guarantee staff compliance with state, federal, licensing, and regulatory agency standards. Develop unit or service goals and objectives that promote the mission, vision and values of DMC; achieve related goals. Maintain communication lines among staff; conduct regular staff meetings and provide team‑building and problem‑solving opportunities; monitor compliance with laws, regulations, Joint Commission requirements and DMC policies. Qualifications Master’s degree required in Nursing, Business, Health Care Administration or a related field, with at least one degree in Nursing. Three to five years of experience, which may be concurrent clinical work and progressively more responsible management experience.
