Description:

Electrophysiology (EP) Monitoring Technician

Shift Details

• Primarily day shifts with some late night (evening) hours
• On-call/call per unit needs required
• Schedule is either 4x10-hour or 3x12-hour shifts

Main Function

• Provides assistance to the Electrophysiologist during EP studies, ablations, and cardiac implants
• Implements EP pacing monoverse and demonstrates understanding of pacing concepts
• Operates GE (MacLab & CardioLab) system to assist in pacing monoverse and measurements
• Assists in set up with multiple vendors including Carto, Abbott, Opal, and Affera in ablations
• Documents procedures within the lab using Epic
• Communicates with MD and in-room staff to ensure all equipment and supplies are available
• Assists in facilitating room turnover and on-time starts for timely patient care
• Coordinates with Charge Nurse and third-party vendors to ensure all team members are available for scheduled procedures

Typical Procedures Performed

• PFA and RF ablations (Cryo ablations): A-fib/Flutter, Atrial tach, AVNRT, WPW, and other AVNRT ablations
  • Mapping systems include Biosense Webster Carto, Abbott EnsiteX, Boston Sci Opal, and Medtronic Affera
• Device implants: Traditional pacemakers (single, dual, CSP, BiV) and ICD
• Sub-Q ICD, Leadless PPM, Loops, & LAAC: Watchmans and Amulets
• HRE: Laser and low risk

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience
• Tech License: RCES, Radiologic Tech License, or RN License (NY only)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association ONLY)
• Ability to implement EP pacing monoverse and demonstrate understanding is required
• GE (MacLab & CardioLab) system experience is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Cardiac implant or structural heart scrub experience (preferred but not required)
• Bloom Stimulator experience (preferred but not required)
• GE (MacLab & CardioLab) system proficiency (preferred but not required)
• Epic documentation experience (preferred but not required)
