Job Title

Work Schedule is Mon-Fri 8.30am-5:00pm.

Pay range is $150K to $175K /year depending on the relevant years of experience.

We offer a competitive package of employee benefits for 30 to 40-hour week positions. Principal duties and responsibilities:

1. Design and direct activities necessary to maintain and expand Agency discretionary and restricted resources, including cultivation of donors, major gifts and planned giving programs, annual campaign, foundation grants and direct mail.
2. Direct the day-to-day operation of the Development Department.

Other duties and responsibilities:

1. Serve on Agency special projects teams and provide leadership, as needed.
2. Provide transportation and use personal vehicle for Agency business.
3. Attend and participate in staff, program, Agency and community meetings and training, as required.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

1. Master's, Bachelor's or equivalent degree in a relevant field plus at least eight years' full-time experience in development or a closely related field; experience can be substituted for education on a one-to-one basis.
2. Proficiency in typing and computer literacy, including internet research, advanced level in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), and databases.
3. Demonstrated accomplishments in and ability to:

• Engage and communicate effectively with others in both verbal and written English, including written proposals, motivational solicitation materials, and public presentations.
• Network socially and professionally; build rapport with staff, clients, the media, volunteers, donors, potential donors, and businesses.
• Lead and influence at all levels inside and outside the organization.
• Lead major corporate and private donor-focused efforts, developing significant monetary and time donations.
• Plan, organize, and implement large special events.
• Build relationships and trust with prospects, donors, Board members, and the media.
• Function effectively in a fast-paced development environment, managing multiple tasks and demands requiring quick adjustment.
• Involve staff in decision making.
• Work effectively as a team member and a leader.
• Train, supervise, and motivate staff.
• Employ tact and diplomacy; exercise sound judgment; act calmly in high-stress situations.
• Exhibit exemplary customer service, compassion, and care in the execution of all duties and interactions.

• Knowledge of:

• Philanthropic and related resources, including key potential donors.
• Sales, and sales closing techniques.
• Financial solicitation and management, particularly for nonprofit organizations.

• Possess a valid California Driver License, with access to a reliable vehicle or for driving an Agency vehicle, current proof of auto liability insurance, and a documented clean DMV record.
• Physical requirements needed to perform the essential functions of this job, with or without accommodation:

• Hearing and talking on telephone and in person; standing, walking, sitting, pinching and finger flexion are required constantly (over 2/3 of the workday).
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, crouching, and kneeling are required occasionally (under 1/3 of the workday).
