The Department of Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine, in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor to support our Hospice and Palliative Medicine program.

Position will work closely as part of a multidisciplinary team providing inpatient consult services at Wellstar Medical College of Georgia. This position will provide consult services for Hospice and Palliative Medicine, assisting with end of life discussions, arranging home/inpatient hospice, and managing symptoms for end of life. In addition, this position will be involved with opportunities for teaching and system-wide advancement of the mission of Palliative Medicine. This position will have extensive collaborative opportunities with multiple disciplines, providing an outstanding environment for research initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes/safety, optimizing the efficiency of patient progression through hospitalization, implementing new systems and processes, and establishing more consistent standards of practice in the acute care setting. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

Clinical - 100% Deliver effective medical care within an in-patient environment for a hospice and palliative medicine consult service. Maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards. Week on/off shift schedule.

MD, DO or equivalent. GA license or be eligible for GA license. Completed a Hospice/Palliative Medicine fellowship and be board certified/eligible in trained specialty. Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training. Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be: - Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation; - Evidence of ability as a teacher; - Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned; - Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and, - Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
