As a Bilingual Adult Medicine Medical Assistant, you'll play a vital role in creating meaningful connections with patients and ensuring they receive the exceptional care they deserve.Here's what makes this opportunity special:Hands-On Patient Care: Be directly involved in patient care by assisting with exams, preparing treatment rooms, and maintaining a clean, well-stocked environment.Community Impact: Make a tangible difference by administering injections, drawing blood, and assisting with diagnostic tests to support patient health.Mission-Driven Work: Join a team deeply committed to serving underserved communities with compassion and respect.Opportunities for Growth: Take advantage of mentorship and professional development programs to advance your career in healthcare.Collaborative Team Environment: Work alongside a supportive and close-knit team where your contributions are valued and celebrated.Key ResponsibilitiesInterview patients to gather their medical history and measure vital signs, weight, and height.Accurately record medical history, vital statistics, and test results in electronic medical records.Collect and prepare blood, tissue, or other specimens for lab testing with proper labeling.Assist physicians during patient exams, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are available.Prepare treatment rooms by maintaining cleanliness and restocking supplies as needed.Clean and sterilize instruments, ensuring safety protocols are followed.Conduct phone consultations with patients regarding test results and health concerns.Perform phlebotomy and other diagnostic tests as required by the provider.Administer medications, including oral, intramuscular, SubQ, and topical, as directed.Ensure detailed and accurate documentation of all patient care activities.Stock exam rooms with necessary supplies, monitor for expired items, and manage waste appropriately.Contribute to OSHA compliance and participate in performance improvement initiatives.Foster a respectful, courteous, and welcoming environment for patients and team members.Collaborate within a primary care medical home model to deliver comprehensive and coordinated care.Attend required safety training programs and adhere to established safety protocols.Maintain work areas and equipment in compliance with Legacy and governmental standards.Report safety concerns promptly and follow exposure control plans as required.Demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment to maintain a safe work environment.Participate in annual education programs and take on additional duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredBLS/CPR Certification requiredUp to one year experienceExcellent communication skills and customer service skills.Basic front desk, clerical or healthcare support specialist skills/experienceAbility to work with clinical staff, works well under pressure, and multitask within a multidisciplinary teamCommitment to the concepts of preventive health care and team approach to health care deliveryExperience working with computersExperience with Microsoft Office applications.Bilingual English/Spanish requiredPhlebotomy skills preferredExperience with electronic medical records, preferred.About Legacy Community HealthAs the largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Southeast Texas, Legacy Community Health has been delivering comprehensive, high-quality, and affordable health care for nearly 40 years.
