Packaging Machine Operator I - 1st Shift

Salary Range: $21.28 per hour

Days/Shifts: 1st Shift

Location: Springfield, OH

Reports to: Production Supervisor

General Description / Primary Purpose

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor and PMO Lead, this position is responsible for operating all Hayssen and Triangle packaging equipment safely and responsibly following the Packaging Machine Operator SOP.

Major Responsibilities and Tasks / Duties of the Position

• Operate all Hayssen and Triangle packaging equipment
• Able to work around machinery and equipment
• Perform forming tube changeovers (7", 8", 9", 10", 2 lb, 3 lb, and 5 lb)
• Operate Yamato and Ishida scales
• Maintain the area clean
• Possess extensive problem solving skills
• Complete paperwork duties
• Perform quality checks, product changeover, and re-supplying of film
• Adhere to all policies, practices, and SOPs related to producing Safe Quality Food (SQF)
• Comply with Food Safety Requirements and GMPs applicable to this position
• Carry out other duties as assigned by Lead or Supervisor

Job Specific Competencies

• 2–4 years experience operating packaging machinery
• Troubleshooting knowledge of machinery
• Basic math skills required
• Ability to read and write legibly
• Excellent communication skills

Physical Requirements

• Work environment: cold (average 34°F), chlorine and concealed ammonia present, surfaces and floors may be wet
• Must wear approved shoes and protective equipment
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and 20 lbs overhead, as job demands
• Constant standing on concrete floor, reaching, bending, stooping, repetitive hand movements may be required
• Movement of machinery, conveyors, and forklifts in operating area

Experience and Education

High school diploma or GED required.

2–4 years experience operating packaging machinery required.
