Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed all-private telemetry unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio for telemetry patients and 1:5 for Med/Surg patients (mixed teams maintain a 1:4 ratio)
• Care for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, cardiac telemetry needs, stroke presentations, forensic cases, COVID, and potential post-operative patients; no titratable drips — set-rate Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin administered
• Read and interpret all cardiac rhythms independently using GE monitoring equipment (no monitor techs on unit)
• Uphold evidence-based practices including bedside shift report, intentional hourly rounding, and medication teaching inclusive of side effects
• Participate in shift huddles at 0700 and 1900; adhere to strict attendance expectations
• Float as needed, including to other Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry units, ICU (for MST patients), or the ER (for MST holds) at a nearby facility approximately 6.5 miles away; travelers are first to float

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of California
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Ability to independently read and interpret all cardiac rhythms

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Cerner electronic health records
• Prior telemetry or Med/Surg Telemetry unit experience
• Familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP (managed per RT and MD order; no ventilator management required)
