STRUCTURAL STEEL & MISCELLANEOUS METALS ESTIMATOR

SALARY: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Division 5 Metalworks , a structural and miscellaneous steel fabricator based in Parchment, Michigan (Kalamazoo Area), is seeking an Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing takeoffs and complete estimates for structural steel, stairs, and railings on commercial construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the steel or construction industry; however, we are open to training a motivated individual who is new to estimating or transitioning from another discipline. Experience with Tekla PowerFab (FabSuite) and/or steel detailing is a plus.

This is a key role within our small, collaborative team and plays a critical part in both our company’s success and the success of our customers’ projects.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Help set strategy for what projects to bid or different markets to enter.
• Provide preliminary or budget pricing to customers.
• Develop relationships with our current customer and vendor base along with new customers across Michigan.
• Analyze scopes of work and involve appropriate suppliers and subcontractors as needed.
• Assemble complete quotes/proposals combining self-performed, contracted work and materials.
• Coordinate subcontractor work scope with purchasing to produce purchase orders/subcontracts.
• Be familiar with construction documents, plans and specifications.
• Provide rough estimates early in the estimation process to obtain bonding when required.
• Occasionally manage projects as time allows.
• Stay abreast of market trends and pricing trends.
• Additional duties and responsibilities as required by a small business.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)

• Previous estimating experience preferred however, significant consideration will be given to a candidate's industry experience and accomplishments.
• Experience in estimating for other construction disciplines will be strongly considered.
• Knowledge of the steel industry a plus
• Self-starter and motivated to learn.
• Works well without constant supervision needed.
• Maintain a valid Driver’s License.
