Accounting Assistant

Accounts Payable / Accounting Clerk Waldwick, NJ | 100% Onsite | MondayFriday, 8:00 AM5:00 PM Compensation: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour A well-established service and construction-focused company in Waldwick, NJ is seeking an Accounts Payable / Accounting Clerk to join its accounting team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on accounting position with a strong AP focus and the opportunity to work closely with Purchasing and Project Management. Experience in a construction, service, contracting, or project-based environment is a plus. What You'll Do Process and accurately enter invoices into the company's accounting system Review invoices against parts orders and work with Purchasing and Project Managers to ensure invoices match materials received Assist with vendor payments for job-related and general company expenses Maintain and update vendor information Enter payroll hours, job numbers and cost codes Partner with Purchasing and Project Management to resolve invoice and accounting questions Provide support with Accounts Receivable and collection calls as needed Reconcile credit card payments and enter expense reports Scan, organize and electronically file accounting documents Generate reports and assist with general accounting and administrative tasks Work as part of a team to provide backup and cross-training within the accounting department Perform other general accounting duties as needed What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent required; some college-level accounting or bookkeeping coursework is a plus Previous Accounts Payable or general accounting experience Experience working with invoices, vendors and purchase orders Construction, service, contracting or project-related accounting experience is helpful Familiarity with an accounting or ERP system; Spectrum by Viewpoint experience is a plus Strong attention to detail and accuracy Good communication and organizational skills Ability to collaborate effectively with Purchasing, Project Management and other departments Excel Skills Advanced Excel skills are not required. Candidates should be comfortable with basic functions, including: Adding and subtracting Inserting rows and columns Sorting and filtering data No pivot tables, VLOOKUPs or advanced formulas required.
