Job Title: Interventional Radiology Rad Tech Profession: Rad Tech Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 15 weeks Shift: 4x10 Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum of two years License: Technician License (State Specific) Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association ONLY), AART Must-Have: Neurosurgery/Neuroscience Experience Description: Interventional Radiology Rad Tech must have Neurosurgery/neuroscience experience. This position requires 4x10 hours, with days that may include weekends, holidays, and on-call/callback as needed by the unit. The candidate should be prepared for on-call duties 1-2 times per week and 1-2 weekends of call per month. The unit prefers Healthcare Professionals with interventional radiology experience. Typically, Radiologic Technologists from other modalities can expect to undergo training for up to six months when starting in neuro interventional radiology. Primary duties include demonstrating competence in selecting exposure factors and positioning to consistently produce radiologic images of diagnostic quality. The ability to work cooperatively with all department members to expedite problem resolution is essential. Displaying flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability in customer interactions is important. Awareness of and sensitivity towards patient rights in all patient interactions is a requirement. Key responsibilities include administering oral contrast as needed for exams. Instructing and preparing patients for radiographic/fluoroscopic procedures while assisting the Radiologist is essential. Demonstrating competence and proficiency in the operation of all x-ray equipment, CR, and DR systems is required. Reporting equipment malfunctions to management is necessary. Completing all assigned procedures in a timely manner while utilizing time between procedures to assist others, perform clerical duties, and stock supplies is expected. The employee must understand their role in maintaining medication security to authorized personnel only. Demonstrating competency in providing healthcare services to all age groups is required. Interpersonal relationship competency across all age groups is essential. Documentation and information management responsibilities include demonstrating competency in the use of Client Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS. Participation in hospital performance improvement activities when warranted is expected. Demonstrating confidentiality using personal passwords and all patient care modules is a must. Answering telephone inquiries of a technical nature from physicians or hospital personnel while maintaining good phone etiquette is required.
