Description:

Interventional Radiology Radiologic Technologist – Neuro IR

Shift Details

• 4x10-hour shifts, Days
• Weekends and holidays required per unit needs
• On-call/callback required per unit needs
• Call frequency: 1–2 times per week and 1–2 weekends of call per month

Position Overview

• Interventional Radiology experience is preferred
• Candidates coming from other modalities may receive up to six months of training in Neuro IR
• Neurosurgery/Neuroscience experience is required

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competence in selecting exposure factors, positioning, and consistently produces radiologic images of diagnostic quality
• Works cooperatively with all members of the department to resolve problems expediently
• Displays flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when dealing with customers
• Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity for patient rights in all interfaces with patients

Areas of Emphasis

• Administers oral contrast as needed per exam
• Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic/fluoroscopic examinations and assists the Radiologist during procedures
• Demonstrates competence and proficiency in operation of all x-ray equipment, CR and DR systems
• Reports equipment malfunctions to manager or lead
• Completes all assigned procedures in a timely manner and uses time between procedures to the department's advantage — assisting others, clerical duties, stocking, transporting, etc.
• Understands his/her role in maintaining medication security to authorized personnel only
• Demonstrates competency in providing health care services in own job category to all age groups
• Demonstrates competency in interpersonal relationships with all age groups

Documentation / Information Management

• Demonstrates competency in the use of Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS
• Participates in hospital performance improvement activities (BPI projects, task forces, etc.) when warranted
• Demonstrates confidentiality using own password and all patient care modules
• Answers telephone inquiries of a technical nature from physicians or hospital personnel in other areas of the hospital while maintaining good phone etiquette

Requirements

• Technician licensure in the state of New York
• Minimum two (2) years of experience
• BLS certification — American Heart Association ONLY
• Neurosurgery/Neuroscience experience
• ARRT certification

Nice to Have

• Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR) experience
