Patient Accounting Representative

Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Patient Accounting Representative for a respected healthcare organization serving the East Bay community. This is a temporary onsite opportunity based in Fremont, California.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Join a collaborative patient financial services team supporting critical revenue cycle operations for a leading healthcare organization. This role is responsible for insurance billing, payment posting, account follow-up, and ensuring accurate reimbursement while providing exceptional service to patients and payers. This temporary opportunity offers immediate impact with an anticipated assignment through October 2026 and the potential for additional staffing needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review, verify, and update patient financial and insurance information to support accurate billing and reimbursement. Submit, monitor, and follow up on insurance claims while resolving outstanding accounts and payment discrepancies. Process refunds, payment arrangements, account adjustments, and patient account inquiries. Utilize Epic and electronic billing systems to maintain accurate account documentation and workflow. Ensure compliance with payer requirements, government regulations, and internal revenue cycle procedures. Collaborate with team members to deliver timely, accurate financial services while supporting additional departmental needs as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with insurance billing, claims follow-up, and electronic billing systems. Working knowledge of Epic (preferred), ICD-10 terminology, CPT procedure coding, and basic medical terminology. Familiarity with Medi-Cal, Covered California, or other government payer regulations and eligibility processes. Strong attention to detail with accurate data entry, keyboarding, and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated team player who works independently while providing excellent customer service.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
